1. Background

1.1 The SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007 is organized by Festival Square Circle. Diakonos Productions is the licensee that holds the rights to organize the Duck Race in Asia. Singapore Computer Society is the Title Sponsor, with Singapore Petroleum Company (SPC) and United Parcel Service (UPS) as Sponsors. The Duck Race is also Co-Sponsored by Alcatel-Lucent Singapore Pte Ltd, bods.bodynits, Microsoft Singapore Pte Ltd, NEC Solutions Asia Pacific, Samsung Asia Pte Ltd and Singtel Telecommunications Limited.

1.2. 100,000 rubber duckies have been put up for adoption to raise a target sum of S$1 million for the 6 beneficiaries:

1.3    To raise more funds for charity, Fashion Show Producer Daniel Boey, who is an ambassador for the SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007, conceptualized the idea of organizing a Designer Duck Online Auction  

1.4    Daniel has rounded up friends from the fashion and entertainment circle to support the SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007 by participating in the Designer Ducks project

2. Objective

2.1 Raise more funds for charity

2.2 Create buzz for the SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007

3. Concept

3.1 The Racing Ducks have been given extreme makeovers and transformed into fashion icons to be auctioned online

3.2 First time that Racing Ducks will hit the fashion catwalk before the racecourse at the Singapore River

3.3 First time that public can bring home a Racing Duck as a keepsake to remember the last race

• The Racing Ducks travel around the world participating in over 200 races to raise funds for charity

• The Raising Ducks are insured and are strictly not for sale

• Exception has been made for the Designer Ducks for the purpose of fundraising

3.4 The Designer Duck Collection 2007 features 13 masterpieces created by personalities from TV, radio and fashion. Each duck comes with a name that reflects its personality as well as the signature of its creator

  4.1 Daniel Boey (Fashion Show Producer – “Daniel Boey Show Production”)

4.1.1 Designer Duck Bio

• Name: Gisele!!! (Comes together with fashion runway)
• DOB: Forever young
• Occupation: The world’s greatest supermodel (everything on me is real, sweetheart!!! eat your heart out, Janice, duck-ingson!!!)
• Hobbies:  Shopping!!!
• Likes: Sexy, intelligent, really really hot male ducks (models, actors, sportsmen… I don’t discriminate)
• Dislikes: Poseur ducks
• Fundraising Target: I usually don’t get out of bed for less than S$10,000.00 but cos this is a good cause, I hope to raise as much as possible. So take out your cheque books babies!

• “Gisele” is a collaboration between myself & Upfront Models…inspired by the fabulous models of Victoria’s Secret (the world’s greatest fashion show!!!)

• I am a firm supporter of children-related charities and the Duck Race is a fun, interesting way of giving back to the community

• Hobbies: Dainty Dandy duck loves shopping, dancing and taking sunny holidays once in a while
• Likes: He likes dressing up and going fishing with the penguins
• Dislikes: He does not like hanging out with the parrots because they gossip too much
• Fundraising Target: It doesn’t really matter how much he fetches, as long as Dainty Dandy duck knows he did his best to impress

• Inspired by Nicholas Dainty Dandy Autumn Winter 2007/8 Collection, Dainty Dandy duck is a monochromatic polar duck that is flamboyant and fun loving

• People get inspired by me! Anya Hindmarch was inspired to design her IT bag “I am not a Bag”, by me!!!

• Being in the fashion industry, I love putting on clothes, so naturally I wanted to dress up my duck, thus her outfit!

  4.10 Paul Twohill (Singapore Idol Finalist)

  4.10.1 Designer Duck Bio

• Name: Mista Rubby
• DOB: 2 weeks old (duck puberty)
• Hobbies: Sing his favourite song “Rubby rubby rubby rubby” (inspired by Kaiser Chief’s Ruby)  
• Likes: To laze around, surf on the waves to wind rather than paddle with his legs, very worried markered hair will smudge. Also likes rubber ducks with purple lips and would like to date a supermodel rubber ducky someday. He also likes the zoo
• Dislikes: Water splashing all over him cos it’ll ruin his hair (SO SOMEONE BETTER BUY HIM). Also dislikes going to duck rice stalls. 
• Fundraising Target: I’m not too far-fetched, but a crisp hundred would be nice yes! Hopefully there are a lot of rich tai tais out there

• Haha well I figured “Mista Rubby” needed to look a bit like me to show I designed it. So the main design was the hair and beyond that I’d say the “inspiration” all came from random thoughts in my head.

§         Well it’s ultimately for a good cause, and certainly a fun way to give back to charity. Designing ducks for bucks (it rhymes by the way)? WOAH. Haha fun stuff.

• Fundraising Target: As much as you think it’s worth – that to me is good enough. If not, it means I have to work harder to either “up” my “star quotient” OR improve on my duck design for the next one…

• Our radio show is “Muttons at Midnight” and we have a pretty fun identity that I thought could be translated to the duck! The devil horns represent what our radio show is about… We’re nice guys, but when the time comes to be naughty, we’ll jump straight at it!

§         I’ve always loved the concept of the duck race! Couple of years I’ve actually gone down to see the actual race at the Singapore River which was very fun. Not to mention that it’s always nice to give back and my do my little bit for a good cause

5. Designer Ducks Online Auction

5.1 The Designer Ducks Online Auction will be conducted on Yahoo (http//sg.auctions.yahoo.com) from 1 August to 1^st week September 2007

5.2 The starting bid for each Designer Duck is S$50

6. Designer Ducks Public Display

6.1 The Designer Ducks will be on display at the bods.bodynits outlet at Marina Square (Unit #02-182)

6.2 The display period will be from 10 August to 30 August 2007.

7. Beneficiaries for Online Auction Proceeds

7.1 The proceeds from the Designer Ducks Online Auction will go to the 6 beneficiaries of the SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007:

7.1.3       Metta Welfare Association

7.1.4       Tampines Family Service Centre

  7.2 Besides bidding for the Designer Ducks, members of the public are strongly encouraged to adopt a duck by purchasing an adoption certificate*

7.3 Each adoption certificate for the SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007 costs S$10 and offers participants the opportunity to do their part for charity as well as take part in the Duck Race and stand to win attractive prizes

7.4 The adoption tickets for the SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007 are available via various channels:
